Oh My God, 60% of Teens in Indonesia Doing Sex at Home

Jakarta, problems in adolescents in Indonesia has been growing concern. Due to lack of knowledge in sexual and reproductive right, makes a lot of teenagers are sexually active before marriage. In fact, 60 percent of them do at home.  

Based on a survey of the National Commission for the Protection of Children in 33 provinces in 2008 about high school teenagers, who never watched a porn film to reach 97 percent. Middle and high school teens who ever kissed, masturbation and oral sex reached 93.7 percent, not junior high teens virgin teens 62.7 percent and 21.2 percent had abortions reached.

In fact, data PKBI (red, Ind : Perkumpulan Keluarga Berencana Indonesia - Indonesia Family Planning Association) in 2006 showed teens who claimed to have premarital sex are teens ages 13 to 18 years. 60 percent of them admitted to not using contraception and admitted to do it at home. 

"Sexually active teens are realities that can not be denied. Higher teenage doing sex before marriage at home because parents let their children feel safe when at home alone, so is not too watched. In fact, most teenagers do it at home," said Dr. Sudibyo Alimoeso, MA, Deputy Family Welfare and Family Empowerment BKKBN, in a media gathering at the House of BKKBN, Jakarta, Wednesday (22/02/2012).

According to Dr. Sudibyo, most teens first have sex before marriage just because of trial and error and curiosity. This happened because of a lack of in sexual and reproductive health knowledge owned by teenager. In addition, the lack of parental supervision at home also makes teens feel comfortable and safe to have sex before marriage.

"It's also because the knowledge is not enough for parents to communicate about sexuality with children. Children should get the right information from the parents that he did not get the wrong information from the outside, because according the survey most teenagers have the information about sex from her friends," explains Dr Sudibyo .
